CornerTape - Tips & Tricks

3waycorner

All corners must be masked
before doing the long runs.
Simply cut 3 pieces of CornerTape.
Start in one corner approx. 1 cm
from the gap. Remove the clear
film. Repeat on the other sides.
Then mask up the long runs and
overlap onto the pre-masked corner.
For a 2-way corner, don’t remove
the clear film from the 3rd side
of the joint, this will then block the
sealant.

Take the forming tool which is included and simply slide it in-between the clear and silvertapes. Start a little way down from the end of the tape, not at the very top.

removemetaltape
If you are struggling to remove the
metal tape, use the back of the
clear plastic film. Attach the film
to the metal tape and pull gently.

Take the forming tool and slide in-between the two tapes and press it right into the corner. Now just fold over the tape and lightly press the other half of it down. Don’t run the tool down the joint, but repeat these two steps every 50 cm.

Now very gently, starting in the
middle, fold the tape over to the
left side of the corner, making
sure the crease of the tape stays
in the corner at all times.
EvenAngle The enclosed forming tool is especially shaped to fit in the preset sized gap of the CornerTape. Be sure to hold the forming tool at an even angle, smoothing down the whole joint in one long run.
UNEvenAngle Keep the forming tool at a fixed
angle, approx. 90*. The edges of the
forming tool will coincide with the
edge of the tape, thus avoiding edges to your joint.
Even-Tilted Here you see the results of the holding of the forming tool:
To the left: held in a fixed angle of approx 90 degrees
To the right: held in a much smaller angle creating an edge to your joint.
removewhitepaper
If you are having trouble removing
the white backing paper, try to
bend the corner of the tape till
the white backing paper releases
itself from the thin metal tape.

If you have applied too little silicone, simply apply another thin bead.

If you have applied too much silicone, simply wipe the former tool of on a piece of paper and continue smoothing down the joint.

cornertapegrip To ensure proper application
of the CornerTape, it is vital that
you use the CornerTape grip.
With your right hand - give yourself
the “tumbs up”. Now place that
thumb inside the core of the roll,
holding it against the wall.
Now extend your index finger just
a little bit on the outside of the roll,
and with a light pressure secure
the roll to the opposite wall.
This will ensure that the roll stays
in the corner applying the tape correctly.

Use the CornerTape grip, and always let the roll be the guide as to where you apply the CornerTape.
